Baking Instructions
1. Combine butter & flour
In a medium bowl, mix the room temperature butter in the all-purpose flour that you've measured using a measuring cup. You can use an electric mixer at medium speed to get an homogeneous texture.
2. Add remaining dry & wet
Mix in the brown sugar, baking powder (or soda), and eggs until just homogeneous.
3. Fold in mix-ins
Add chocolate chips, your flavoring, and nuts if using.
4. Chill the dough
Place your chocolate chip cookie dough in the refrigerator for an hour while your oven preheats. This will give your cookie dough the perfect texture.
5. Shape
Form into evenly distributed cookie shapes and place them on a parchment lined baking sheet. The perfect cookie scoope should be between 3 and 4 inches.
6. Bake
Bake for about 15 minutes at 350°F (175°C / gas mark 4-5) oven temperature in your preheated oven, until getting crispy edges but still slightly undercooked.
Let's cool at room temperature and enjoy your fresh chocolate chip cookies!
If you want to store them, cool completely before putting in an airtight container for three to four days.
FAQ
The best chocolate chip cookie recipe should be quick, foolproof, and irresistibly tasty. At Friendly Captcha, we only bake and eat edible cookies – so no browser or HTTP cookies. Here is our best cookie recipe for yummy, classic chocolate chip cookies, using all kind of chocolate chips, all purpose flour, light brown sugar, eggs and butter.
The perfect texture for your cookie dough should be well-balanced to bake evenly – not too dry, and not too soft. Don’t use too much flour – this often the reason why the chocolate chip cookies flatten. For best results, chill the dough in the refrigerator for about an hour before baking. This helps create chocolate chips cookies with a soft center and crispy edges. Using a stand mixer or an electric mixer is also a good tip to mix the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients, so you get an homogeneous texture before baking.
The best chocolate chip cookies are between 3 and 4 inches (7,5 to 10 cm) in size (as a rule of thumb). With 15mn baking time, this size ensures the perfect texture for your cookies, with crispy edges and a soft center.
Yes, the type of sugar makes a big difference. Due to its acidity, brown sugar will make your cookies softer and chewier, whereas white sugar, with its neutral pH, will make them lighter and crisper.
Your cookies flatten because you used too much flour, or used melted butter instead of room temperature butter.
Yes, you can use peanut butter! Peanut butter adds a deep, savory sweet nuttiness to your cookie dough. Peanut butter also makes cookies softer and moister, and it adds some protein. You should use a creamy, unsalted peanut butter to keep good tasting balance in your cookie recipe. As peanut butter tends to spread less, you can use a roll dough to slightly flatten your cookie dough before baking.
The Cookie-Free CAPTCHA
You Said No Cookies?
Yep. Not even digital crumbs.
Other CAPTCHA providers use cookies. Not the warm, gooey kind – the creepy, browser-tracking kind. They log your IP, session ID, login data, preferences, clicks, browser quirks… maybe even your sneeze.
They say they need it to function, but it’s not needed.
So we built something better.
Don’t You Need Cookies to Fight Bots?
Nope. Friendly Captcha uses cryptographic proof-of-work and advanced risk signals instead.
So instead of planting a cookie and hoping it’s not a very clever toaster browsing the web, we simply give your browser a challenge.
Your device solves it invisibly and quickly, and we know:
