DPDPA Compliance Checklist
Friendly Captcha offers a CAPTCHA solution compliant with India’s privacy law, DPDPA. Here’s a quick compliance checklist mapping Friendly Captcha’s features to DPDPA requirements:
No collection of personal data
We don't store names, IP addresses, device IDs, or any other personal identifiers. According to DPDPA §2(t), "personal data" refers to any data about an identifiable individual. Friendly Captcha does not collect any such data.
Purpose limitation
Any data collected is strictly used to verify whether a visitor is a bot or human. According to Section 5 of the DPDPA, personal data may only be processed for specified, clear, and lawful purposes.
No cookies
Friendly Captcha does not use HTTP cookies or persistent browser storage. Since no tracking is involved, obtaining user consent under § 6 of the DPDPA is unnecessary.
Lawful cross-border data transfers
With our global endpoint, requests are processed at the point of presence nearest to the end user. According to section 14 of the DPDPA, processing personal data outside of India must align with India’s data sovereignty requirements.
Compliance with data principal rights
Any personal data that is processed is either encrypted or immediately deleted. Friendly Captcha helps ensure compliance with the data principal rights outlined in Section 11 of the DPDPA. However, these rights are typically not necessary because Friendly Captcha does not store personal data in persistent browser storage.
Transparent by design
No black-box decision-making. Friendly Captcha's data processing is fully documented. In line with Section 5 of DPDPA, users and regulators can easily understand what data is collected and why.
